Send the One Campaign over the top

    By Jeremy | October 16, 2007

    * As of 5:45 this afternoon, the One campaign had achieved 94% of its goal of 40,000 signers to the following letter in support of the proposed Jubilee Act:
As a constituent and a member of the ONE Campaign, I write to ask you to co-sponsor the Jubilee Act. Your support would greatly enhance our effort to relieve the debts of some of the poorest countries as articulated in the Jubilee Act. As you may know, the Jubilee Act (H.R. 2634) will expand cancellation of debts owed to the U.S. and other international financial institutions by impoverished countries. Debt repayment continues to severely hamper impoverished countries ability to provide access to clean water, adequate housing and basic healthcare for their people. Yet, debt cancellation is one of the most effective ways to help those suffering under crushing poverty. Please co-sponsor this crucial legislation which will help break the vicious cycle of poverty. Thank you for considering this request, and I look forward to your response. Sincerely, (Your Name)
