    Full Faith and Credit

    By Jeremy | December 18, 2007

NorCalUrban John Liotti is a media hottie, with a cover spread in a Silicon Valley magazine about the pending launch of his East Palo Alto credit union tomorrow. He's a friend and minister impassioned by a holistic gospel that manifests good news for the poor. From the article:
"The Rev. John Liotti's quest to launch a credit union in East Palo Alto just may save the whole community. ... East Palo Alto doesn't have a supermarket; it has a single bank and a rash of usurious "payday" loan and check-cashing operations. People in a community that can least afford it have been forced to pay what is essentially a private tax to cash checks. This is the socioeconomic hole Liotti and his board at NCUD are trying to help patch with their nascent East Palo Alto credit union."
The EPA credit union story is especially appropriate given the season. As a pregnant virgin prophesied about her yet unborn child 2000 years ago:
"He has lifted up the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things." Luke 1:52-53
