    Monday Morning MP3

Adopt-a-School: An Idea whose Time has Come

Jeremy Del Rio @ UYWI 2007

What would happen if… * Every public school in America were adopted by three neighborhood churches? * The 300,000 evangelical churches in America prayed every week for the nation's 100,000 public schools? * Volunteers from those churches served the schools as hall monitors, classroom assistants, tutors, event organizers, PTA delegates, or coaches? * Students from those churches were empowered to be salt and light on the campuses? * God-fearing staff members from those churches, whether teachers, aids, principals, or agency administrators, recognized their profession as a calling? Dare we expect that test scores might improve and the trillions currently spent on public education be managed better? Move the debate beyond nondenominational prayers and private school vouchers. Explore ways to engage public education reform one school at a time. Equip your students to become the men and women God made them to be.

ahh, beating UYWI to the punch, eh? Yeah, we contractually can’t distribute it online yet because Dove carries exclusive rights to sell and distribute the workshop audio until Aug. 20th… but August 20th, the stuff will hit the…resource library. hehe.

Too bad more people didn’t sit in on this workshop, but hopefully more can hear it online and be inspired.
