YouTube technology improves NYC law enforcement

    By Jeremy | January 18, 2007

And you thought it was a passing fad.
"Think about Google. Think about eBay. Think about photos people take on their cellphones when they're on vacation. It's time to bring law enforcement into cyberspace," declared Feinblatt [Mayor Bloomber's criminal-justice coordinator]. "In the end, it's going to help us solve crimes faster."
From "'YouTube' Due for 911" In other news affecting youth and culture from today's NY Post: "Sundance with the Devil: Rape and Torture Rule at the Most Shocking Film Festival Ever." Bloomberg announces education reform plan to eliminate automatic teacher tenure.
According to the city Department of Education, 99 percent of teachers who work through the probationary term of three years set out by state law are granted tenure. The department spends tens of millions of dollars a year attempting to fire tenured teachers. Under the proposed crackdown, principals would personally certify that a teacher deserves tenure based on their students' test scores and other factors. Their decisions would be reviewed by the chancellor and the mayor.
