    Best in Manhattan

    By Jeremy | November 3, 2006

Jonny Mal's brother Chris at the 2006 Celebration of Xcellence

I'm not sure whether to be proud or humbled by this, but my friend and a member of my youth group was crowned "Best Trash Talker in Manhattan" last night on MTV's Yo Momma. Yes, if you saw the show, Jonny Mal was one of the first members of Abounding Grace when he was 10 or 11. He attended our first youth camping trip in the mid-90s, then left the church as a teenager, then came back for a year or two in the early 2000s attending, among other things, our first missions trip to Tijuana. His younger brother Chris was one of the first members of Generation Xcel and co-founded Xpress. As you can see from the show, Jonny's wonderfully bright and charming and quick on his feet. It's exciting to see his confidence and charisma and ability to work a crowd on national television. Unfortunately, he's also pretty raunchy. I love him anyway! Go Jonny, and now that you're rolling in "cash money," come visit sometime. Hah. Just kiddin. Even if you're broke, you're welcome anytime.
