Why we must do “away” with words

    By Jeremy | October 20, 2006

Some have asked about this blog title. It's purposefully spelled "away" with words, not "a way," to reflect the idea that talk, by itself, is cheap and hypocritical. How we live our lives speaks much louder than the words that come from our lips. Paul put it this way:
"And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I came to you in weakness and fear, with much trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power, so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom but on God's power." (I Corinthians 2:1-5)
While there is power in our words ("Death and life are in the power of the tongue"), people who fail to act like the words they preach are "double-minded" and "unstable." Even worse, their "faith, if it hath not works, is dead." By this measure, let it be known that I fall short in faith and life every day, but it's towards this goal that "I press on to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."
