    Out of hiding

    By Jeremy | October 10, 2006

+ Time for me to eat crow. (The Yankees ... LOSE!) + Torre deserves to stay. A-Rod too. But Sheffield, Wright, Johnson, and Giambi need to go. Mussina probably should as well. And Torre should never disrespect A-Rod by batting him 8th again. + What got into Kenny Rogers? He's never pitched well in the playoffs in 20 years, notably getting shellacked as both a Yankee and Met pitcher in the late 90s and 2000, plus he's facing a lineup with a combined .391 career BA against him. So he decides to grow a backbone and dominate with a shutout?!!? Meanwhile the game's other 42 year-old pitcher -- the $17 million sure fire hall-of-famer in pinstripes -- throws another dog. Amazing. + Let's go ... uh ... Willie Randolph! In other sports news: + Stephen Jackson's a bad apple. Time for Larry Bird and the Pacers to throw out the trash.

One Response to “Out of hiding”

Not sure I completely agree. Torre, as much as I like him mismanaged the team. Why in the world did he put Shef at 1st bast? I know Giambi was a little hurt – but the infield felt stiff to me with Shef in the mix – like they all were afraid of him missing the ball. Giambi is a spark to the team, lightenes up the clubhouse. I agree about Arod. With Texas footing much of the bill he’s worth the money and the future of the Yankees. Torre is done. Time for a new manager. Dump Shef, keep Bernie and Bobby A. Dump most of the pitching staff – especially Randy.

What the Yanks really need is a good farm system and better draft picks. Where is Billy Martin when you need him? He would have fired the team up, hurling coolers and invectives. Torre just chewed on his toothpick and watched his team implode.
