    Join the Club

    By Jeremy | February 24, 2005

In response to an earlier post about Brian McLaren, Matt Kruse (a Boston-area church planter) and I have decided to read A New Kind of Christian together and compare notes online. Anyone else want to join our pseudo book club experience?

J, I’m headed for a long awaited vacation with our family… Puerto Rico. Just give me some sun & sand man. Toting a 4 year, 2 year old, and 6 month old around the island should be fun. Perhaps we’ll hook up with some Del Rios. We’ll be staying in Isabella.

Give me a game plan for engaging the book together. Chapter by Chapter? Thought and response? I’ll take a copy on the trip and read through it. On the beach. Nice.

You’ll be ahead of my game if you’re able to read the book next week. I’m thinking we start the dialogue mid March, chapter by chapter for however many weeks, and post reflections/comments in some kind of discussion group. I don’t have a copy of the book yet, so it may not require weeks to actually read and process. Let me know your thoughts after next week.

Have a blast in PR. Call my uncle earlier in the week, because he’s coming to NYC sometime in early March, maybe as soon as March 1.

I’d like to join that. I’ve been getting negative vibes from someone lately and I’d like to get into it, but between work and school I haven’t done it yet. The accountability will help me out. Let me know when you’re starting.

Why don’t we plan to buy the book and read at least the first chapter before March 21. I’ll post a comment to start the discussion, then you guys offer yours, and we’ll work from there. Sound good?
