    Be you

    By Jeremy | February 11, 2005

Comparison, a great teacher once told me, is the cardinal sin of modern life. It traps us in a game that we can't win. Once we define ourselves in terms of others, we lose the freedom to shape our own lives. - Jim Collins

    One Response to “Be you”

God help us all with this.
What is the true self? And how do we get there? Here’s a meager attempt at defining some of my own experience. I believe the process of being and becoming includes moments of appraisal to others, occasional imitation (The Apostle Paul said “imitate me”) and comparison. I think one of the most important parts of that journey question for me is: Do I consider myself better than others? (which is what comparison often leads to)instead of: how and what can I learn from this person, in order to make what they have a part of the mosaic of my unique and God-given expression of existence?

      Enjoy your getaway!
